Residential and Commercial Painting FAQ
What areas do you serve around Mount Pleasant and Charleston, SC?
We proudly serve homeowners and businesses in Mount Pleasant, Charleston, Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, Daniel Island, and nearby Lowcountry communities. If you’re within about 30 minutes of Mount Pleasant—we’re probably already painting near you.
Do you handle both residential and commercial painting projects?Absolutely. We specialize in interior and exterior residential painting and work with commercial clients—from shopping centers, townhome communities, offices, restaurants, retail spaces, and apartment communities.
Do you offer free painting quotes or consultations?
Yes! All quotes are free. We’ll visit your property, assess the space, talk through your goals, and provide a detailed written estimate—no pressure, no hidden fees.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, Drexel Hill Painting is fully licensed and insured in South Carolina for your peace of mind. Every project is covered from start to finish.
What paint brands do you use?
We primarily use Sherwin-Williams products for their proven durability in Charleston’s hot, humid, and salty air.
What’s included in the painting quote?
Our quotes include surface prep, paint, supplies (such as caulk), labor, cleanup, and warranty information. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying for before we start.
How do you prepare surfaces before painting?
We inspect, clean, sand, prime, caulk, and repair surfaces as needed before applying any paint. Proper prep work is what separates a quick paint job from a professional paint finish that lasts for years.
How long does a typical interior job take?
The time required for any paint project depends on the scope of work and size of the project. When we meet with our customers for a quote, we determine the customers goals. For example, on an interior project, are we painting only the walls? Or is the trim included, the ceilings, closets? All of that impacts the amount of time (and cost) of a painting quote. While all projects are different, most interior painting projects take 2–5 days, depending on size and detail.
How do you protect furniture and floors?
We treat your home like it’s our own. Everything gets covered and taped off—furniture, floors, countertops, and trim (if we are not painting the trim). We clean up daily and do a final walkthrough at completion.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. All our work is backed by a one-year workmanship warranty. If anything peels, chips, or fails due to our application (which rarely happens), we’ll make it right.
What makes Drexel Hill Painting different from other painters?
We’re local, responsive, and transparent. You’ll talk directly with the owner—not a call center. We care about craftsmanship and communication equally.
How do I schedule a project?
Call us or fill out our online form. Once you approve your quote, we’ll lock in your dates and confirm everything in writing.
What happens if the weather delays my exterior project?
Coastal weather can be tricky. If rain or other weather delays the job, we will continue the painting as soon as the weather allows. We will keep you updated daily.
How many coats of paint do you apply?
We always recommend two finish coats of high quality Sherwin-Williams paint.
Do you help with color selection?
We can assist you with your colors or have a color consultant that we recommend assist you (separate company that offers this service for a fee).
Can you paint cabinets or trim?
We don’t paint cabinets. But we do paint trim. Freshly painted trim can make a space look like new.
Do you handle drywall repair or wood rot?
Yes, we can patch holes, fix cracks, and replace minor rotted sections before painting. We can recommend a contractor for major wood rot replacement.
Do you work with HOAs or property managers?
All the time. We understand HOA requirements and can coordinate approvals and color documentation for you.
How do you protect outdoor surfaces and landscaping?
We use drop cloths, plastic and painter’s tape on all non-painted areas, and take extra care around gardens, patios, and driveways.
How do I decide what sheen to use?
We will assist you with the sheen selection. There are pros and cons of each sheen (flat, matte, satin, semi-gloss, gloss) for each surface.
